Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities (PINRAs) include activities that an interpreter wishes to attend, but are not offered by an RID approved sponsor. The activity must be sponsored by an organization with specific known standards and must have a specific format, educational objectives and purpose. This includes:

  • Audited college courses (for credit courses, please visit the academic coursework page)
  • Non-credit courses at an educational institution
  • Corporate training
  • Community education
  • Non-mandatory school district in-services
  • Organizational conventions/workshops

Your PINRA application must be completed, submitted, and approved at least 10 days before the start of the event so please allow sufficient time for processing.

Application Requirements:

*Submit all documentation to

  1. PINRA Request Form
  2. Activity Description:
    • A detailed copy of the event description. For a conference with multiple sessions, a description of each session is required
  3. Instructor Bios:
    • Presenter bios or other information to show that the instructor is appropriately knowledgeable 
  4. Activity Agenda:
    • A detailed agenda that shows the date, time, and schedule
  5. Registration:
    • A copy of your registration 
  6. Get approval from the PINRA coordinator for:
    • The number and type of CEUs
    • What type of proof of attendance you will offer 
    • The "Go Ahead" to begin the activity
